A Collection of Things I’ve Found Useful.
Your mileage may vary.
Belarc Advisor. Get a profile of your computer: hardware, software, Windows updates, everything. I used it when I rebuilt my PC a while back.
Ubuntu Studio. A Linux distro tailored for multimedia production. It includes Ardour 2 (audio), The GIMP, Inkscape (drawing and graphics), Blender (3d animation), PiTiVi (video), Kino (video), among other things.
You can install it even if you don’t have a DVD burner. Just run this command in either Gutsy Gibbon or Hardy Heron:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install ubuntustudio-desktop ubuntustudio-audio ubuntustudio-audio-plugins ubuntustudio-graphics ubuntustudio-video linux-rt
Very cool. I have no idea how it works.
I’ll add more as I think of it.
